About The Position

Richmond Professional Lab is a commercial photofinishing lab that edits, prints, and ships photo-related orders for over 2500 professional photography studios nationwide. We offer a wide range of products including small and large format photographic prints, canvas wraps, vinyl banners, t-shirts, holiday cards, ornaments, and mugs. We are seeking an experienced Supervisor for our Packaging Department to ensure the overall successful functionality of the production lab. This role operates in a fast-paced environment, and we aim to foster a motivated and positive workspace with employees eager to learn and grow. The Performance Supervisor will report to the Chief Operating Officer, assisting with the overall operation of the production floor, strategy development, and providing functional direction to Area Leads. This position requires hands-on involvement in the production process, including troubleshooting and project improvement, and offers a significant opportunity to lead continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to profitable growth.

Requirements

  • Able to work both independently and within a team, generating results with general/minimal guidance from management.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively apply MS Excel and other analysis tools to real-world problem-solving.
  • Must be flexible, innovative, and comfortable in setting own priorities.
  • History of evaluating best practices to increase efficiency and effectiveness of teams.
  • Proven track record leading teams to accomplish outlined goals and objectives.
  • Previous experience leading teams of hourly employees within a manufacturing/industrial setting strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Business Administration, Technical, or Educational disciplines strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant management or teaching experience.

Responsibilities

  • Direct all activities related to operations and production in accordance with RPL's business plan and the strategic goals of the company.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Operating Officer to set strategic goals and vision for the Packaging area, as well as short- and long-term goals.
  • Direct and manage the overall production plan for the Packaging Department, including supervising day-to-day operations.
  • Collaborate with department support leadership (Area Leads, Training, Process Advisors) on determining material, space, equipment, and personnel needs, and on developing and implementing processes, procedures, and functional responsibilities.
  • Evaluate performance against production goals and adjust resource allocations (personnel, equipment, materials) to optimize quality, quantity, market share, service quality, and cost-efficiency.
  • Manage direct reports, assign work, provide coaching and training, set goals, conduct performance evaluations, plan staff development, and make people management decisions in collaboration with management and HR.
