About The Position

This position is responsible for filling totes and drums with refined glycerin, Canola, and lecithin. Receiving packaging materials and supplies and loading packaged products onto shipping vehicles. Complying with all applicable company standards and government regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Valid Drivers’s license
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures
  • Ability to operate machinery and computer control systems while maintaining compliance with regulatory safety requirements, e.g., OSHA (including PSM), EPA, USDA, and ISO 9000
  • Ability to drive a forklift, climb stairs and ladders as well as work at heights; manage confined space entry, withstand extended periods of walking and standing; move manufacturing materials, products and equipment of 50 pounds or more which requires regular bending and lifting
  • Mechanical aptitude, effective communication skills, basic math and fundamental PC skills

  • Technical degree is preferred.
  • Experience in receiving/shipping and knowledge of LDC liquid process controls preferred
  • Well organized, self-motivated and action-oriented and able to work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with company and food safety policies
  • Receive/unload packaging supplies
  • Fill or empty glycerin, canola, and lecithin packaging tanks using computerized controls and following standard operating procedures
  • Create accurate labels, print labels, and label drums, totes, and samples
  • Print accurate shipping paperwork and ensure that it is sent with the correct packages
  • Fill containers with glycerin, canola, lecithin, or other (sometimes mixing additives), using computerized controls and scales
  • Use a forklift to move containers and load trucks with the correct packaged material and accurate shipping paperwork
  • Conduct inventory audits of packaged products & materials; notify the packaging supervisor of low quantities
  • Inspect packaging equipment and report any issues
  • Respond to equipment issues or alarms; investigate and initiate resolutions
  • Accurately complete all required operational and food safety documentation
  • Record quantities of materials packaged per the Packaging Supervisor’s instructions
  • Performs basic maintenance including gasket replacement, simple leak repair or other basic maintenance tasks
  • Ensure work area is kept clean and free of safety hazards. This includes but is not limited to tasks such as daily cleaning, trash removal, pressure washing, minor painting, snow removal and salt spreading, etc.
  • Complete all required training tasks as assigned in EHS or by the Packaging Supervisor
  • Attend and participate in safety and general meetings when scheduled or requested
