About The Position

This is an onsite position in Crothersville, IN. The Packaging Operator is responsible for performing packaging functions utilizing a packaging machine. Duties may include filling, marking, wrapping, banding, and packing containers with products and/or materials. The role involves replenishing the machine with packaging materials as needed, identifying equipment malfunctions and repair needs, and potentially making minor repairs. The operator will set up, load, unload, and operate packaging machines to package finished product according to specifications. They will also complete necessary checklists (pre-shift, End of Shift Cleaning, Changeover) and update workstation metrics/line boards. A key responsibility is the ability to run the primary line at line speed safely and with good quality, and to be cross-trained for additional packaging lines. The role requires ensuring accurate measurements on reels and coils, using a workstation computer for production, scrap, downtime, and maintenance entries, and making adjustments to machinery for even lay. The operator will wrap coils and spools, check wire for quality, print and place labels, and may assist with hand packing finished products. They will load reels into payoff, verify piece counts, and maintain cleanliness of the work area while observing all company and safety rules. Participation in Lean events, housekeeping, and safety audits is also expected. Additional duties may be assigned.

Requirements

Ability to run primary line at line speed safely and with good quality.
Ability to be cross-trained and signed off to run additional packaging lines at entry level requirements.
Ensures that measurements on reels and coils are accurate as specified.
Ability to use workstation computer to enter production, scrap, downtime and maintenance work orders.
Maintains cleanliness of work area and observes all company and safety rules.
Participate in Lean events as well as housekeeping and safety audits as needed.

Responsibilities

Verify piece counts.
Maintain cleanliness of work area and observe all company and safety rules.
Participate in Lean events as well as housekeeping and safety audits as needed.
Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.
