About The Position

A packaging operator is a professional who works in manufacturing or industrial settings, operating and monitoring machinery to produce goods. They are responsible for setting up, adjusting, maintaining, and troubleshooting the equipment to ensure efficient and safe production and must have the ability to work in a safe manner, follow safety guidelines. This role requires understanding and following Food Safety policies, the ability to read and understand recipes, troubleshoot process related issues, use digital scales, mix doughs according to recipe, and follow FIFO principles. The operator will also be responsible for cleaning and refilling ingredient bins, maintaining a clean work area, and observing plant safety, GMP, and allergen procedures. A key responsibility is manufacturing, distributing, and maintaining safe and quality food by adhering to good manufacturing practices, allergen controls, food defense, HACCP, and SQF requirements. The operator must immediately report all food safety and quality issues to their supervisor and follow their directives, supporting the shift team as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and follow Food Safety policies.
  • Work flexible schedules and in other departments including weekends and holidays.
  • Read and understand recipes.
  • Troubleshoot process related issues within the boundaries of the recipe.
  • Use digital scales and have a working knowledge of scale functions.
  • Mix doughs according to recipe, using the mixer, time, and batch recipe system.
  • Follow FIFO (First in First Out), Mix lot number and documentation accuracy.
  • Clean & Refill ingredient bins and label the bins with the correct lot number.
  • Work in a standing position for entire shift and climb steps and ladders.
  • Monitor and assist with equipment upstream/downstream to ensure continuous operation.
  • Clean mixers, work areas properly during and after production runs or changeovers.
  • Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area.
  • Observe all plant safety, GMP and allergen procedures and attend appropriate training sessions.
  • Be responsible for manufacturing, distributing and consistently maintaining safe and quality food by following good manufacturing practices, allergen controls, food defense, HACCP and SQF requirements.
  • Be responsible for immediately reporting all food safety and quality issues to your supervisor.
  • Follow supervisor’s directives and be able to support the shift team as needed.
