About The Position

The Packaging Operator is responsible for performing packaging operations, including quality control and close management of the packaging team. This role ensures adherence to safety, environmental, quality, and food safety standards while operating and maintaining packaging machinery. The position involves leading the packaging workforce to meet production planning and maintaining cleanliness and tidiness in the work area. Communication with colleagues and management regarding production progress, issues, and documentation is also a key aspect of this role.

Requirements

  • Wear all PPE in compliance with OHSA/RC requirements.
  • Adhere to multi-skills policy and acquire at least one additional competence.
  • Attend any training program as scheduled by company management.
  • Train any designed person in the position.
  • Lead packaging workforce on line to comply with production planning.
  • Full knowledge of packaging operations (Paper bag machines, Plastic bag machines, Sampling machine, On-Process Check-Weigher, Inkjet, Labeler, Wrappers, Screeners, Scales, Quality control, Forklift / Pallet truck operations, Packaging materials / Finished goods…)
  • Unrestricted range of motion.

Responsibilities

  • Perform packaging operations including quality control.
  • Manage the packaging team.
  • Enforce and respect safety rules and internal policies.
  • Stop any equipment or works if safety/environment protection/fire protection rules are broken.
  • Guarantee and apply ISO 14001 (Environment) and related working procedures.
  • Guarantee and apply ISO 9001, FSS/ISO22000, Mars Standards, and related working procedures.
  • Support the HACCP program in the department.
  • Follow GMP-GHP in the area.
  • Inform Shift Supervisor of quality deviations.
  • Maintain CCPs and oPrPs in the department.
  • Perform and record quality control tests.
  • Sample products to ensure quality control.
  • Report any pest activity to the related Manager.
  • Perform and record area-related equipment first level maintenance.
  • Set up packaging machines.
  • Operate packaging machines.
  • Stack packaged products in cases or on pallets.
  • Monitor packaging machines.
  • Identify bags, cases, and pallets according to GMP.
  • Perform inventory of raw ingredients, packaging materials, and finished products.
  • Perform daily monitoring swabs (M swabs) as required.
  • Perform operational cleaning operations, change over cleaning, weekly cleaning, and hypo cleaning.
  • Perform Housekeeping Checks to ensure compliance to 5S.
  • Communicate with co-worker of next shift about machine problems, progress on production schedule, bin inventories, and quality issues.
  • Complete production reports and record any production events.
