About The Position

The Packaging Mechanic is responsible for preparing tanks and enclosures for generator assembly. This role involves working in a warehouse setting with exposure to noise, outside weather conditions, small levels of airborne particles, and occasionally lifting more than 50-75lbs. Safety training and equipment are provided.

Requirements

  • Good understanding of set up techniques.
  • Familiarity with black iron and exhaust tubing.
  • Knowledge of basic hand tools, wrenches, ratchets, screw drivers, etc.
  • Comprehension of single phase and 3 phase AC systems, basic DC control systems.
  • Familiarity with basic electrical codes, good wiring practices.
  • Pipe fitting/threading skills.
  • Fluent in the use of hand tools, power tools, hydraulic cutter/crimpers.
  • Ability to solve basic mathematical equations.
  • Ability to interpret and/or fabricate from specifications, blueprints, or work instructions.
  • Safe effective forklift operation.
  • Rigging skills.
  • Five years commercial generator experience and/or training in an electrical/mechanical field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Background check and pre-employment drug screening required.
  • Must be willing to meet overtime demands.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing tanks and enclosures for generator assembly.
  • Setting up equipment and using various tools.
  • Working with black iron and exhaust tubing.
  • Using basic hand tools, wrenches, ratchets, and screwdrivers.
  • Understanding single phase and 3 phase AC systems, and basic DC control systems.
  • Applying knowledge of basic electrical codes and wiring practices.
  • Performing pipe fitting and threading.
  • Using hand tools, power tools, and hydraulic cutter/crimpers.
  • Solving basic mathematical equations.
  • Interpreting and/or fabricating from specifications, blueprints, or work instructions.
  • Operating a forklift safely and effectively.
  • Performing rigging tasks.
  • Reading schematics and pre-planning jobs.
  • Rigging generators and breakers.
  • Bolting generators down.
  • Making push lock hoses.
  • Identifying fuel in/fuel out on generators and connecting fuel lines.
  • Running wires in loom.
  • Using proper hand and power tool techniques.
  • Filling out QC paperwork and shipping loose items.
  • Measuring fuel/oil/coolant lines for special instructions.
  • Identifying different fittings (JIC, Barb, NPT, Boss, etc.).
  • Installing Annunciators, Isolators, Fuel Filters, and Fuel Polishers.
  • Measuring for shrouds.
  • Measuring flanges and bolt holes to identify proper hardware.
  • Operating a forklift to mount generators on fuel tanks.
  • Installing exhaust kits.
  • Cutting and crimping cables.
  • Installing breather hoses.
  • Sealing enclosures/tanks.
  • Installing normal vents (interior/exterior of enclosures).
  • Installing Bulkheads and Condensate drains.
  • Installing natural gas piping.
  • Installing Best Battery Kits.
  • Installing Gen/Enclosure mounted breakers.
  • Installing crankcase ventilation systems.
  • Installing intake/discharge plenums.
  • Installing pnuemerator and Veeder root systems.
