About The Position

The Packaging Material Handler supports the packaging area by bringing product to the line via forklift and other equipment. This role involves producing required quantities of batched recipes, maintaining logs, performing equipment maintenance and quality/sanitation functions, and interfacing with the plant ERP system for inventory control. The position requires maintaining a clean and safe work area, preparing materials according to production orders, printing labels, and supporting warehouse tasks as needed. The role also emphasizes adherence to food safety, quality, and workplace safety guidelines, as well as supporting the company's vision, mission, and values.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to follow proper food safety, quality and workspace safety procedures and requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a team environment.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and stand for an extended period.
  • Forklift experience (6+ months preferred), training provided, must be willing to obtain.
  • Work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to adapt and accommodate change.
  • Self-motivated with ability to allow constructive feedback to grow in position.
  • Mechanically inclined, drive yourself to continually grow and develop your role.

Nice To Haves

  • 6 months working experience in a manufacturing/production facility preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support the packaging area by bringing product and packaging materials to the packaging line.
  • Load and unload the hopper feeding the packaging line.
  • Utilize ERP system for moving in-process materials, finished products, and finished goods into and out of inventory.
  • Place wrapped pallets in the warehouse racking.
  • Read and prepare materials according to daily production orders.
  • Print labels and stickers to be placed on finished product pallets.
  • Support in the absence of Warehouse Material Handler, loading & unloading materials and/or products.
  • Follow all quality guidelines, Master Sanitation Schedules and maintain a food-safe, sanitary environment.
  • Inspect forklift per inspection schedule and clean/upkeep equipment/forklifts as needed.
  • Follow all workplace safety guidelines.
  • Execute the North Freeze Dry Vision, Mission, and Values (VMV’s) at all times.
  • Promote a positive, proactive environment where input from team members is valued and encouraged.
  • Provide back-up support for other roles, as necessary.
  • Be available for overtime on a scheduled or call-in/call-back basis, as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the manager/supervisor.
  • Produce the required quantity of batched recipes within established specifications and tolerances and according to production plan.
  • Maintain logs and records of units produced including a record of errors resulting in rejected/discarded materials.
  • Perform pre-operational equipment, preventative maintenance tasks, and process inspections.
  • Perform quality and sanitation functions per Quality Program and Master Sanitation Schedule.
  • Report maintenance and quality opportunities with shift supervisors and/or managers.
  • Interface with plant ERP system to assure inventory control, lot traceability, and tracking.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, orderly work area.
