About The Position

The PMO Trainer will be responsible for developing and training Packaging Machine Operators, including traditional classroom training and on-the-job training. The role also involves evaluating and tracking the performance and progress of PMOs.

Requirements

  • Ability to work 6 consecutive days, overtime, and weekends as necessary.
  • Ability to train others.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Basic mechanical and math skills.
  • Ability to write routine reports.
  • Capability of meeting all required testing frequencies (detailed, fast-paced work).
  • Capability of operating measuring instruments, such as the weight scale and thermometer.
  • Capability of performing basic math calculations and using a calculator.
  • Able to lift 25lbs.
  • Stand for the duration of the shift (8 hours or more).
  • Bend continuously throughout the shift.
  • Able to work in a noisy, wet and cold environment of approximately 36 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Perform repetitive motions for the duration of the shift.
  • Able to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Able to reach with hands and arms to check the product.

Responsibilities

  • Training and monitoring Packaging Machine Operator (PMO) functions, including programming machines for size, weight, codes, and dates.
  • Verifying machine setup, including proper reassembly after sanitation and scale functionality.
  • Ensuring a clean and organized working environment.
  • Ensuring products are safe and meet customer specifications.
  • Communicating quality issues of raw products or finished goods to appropriate personnel.
  • Training and monitoring PMOs on machine set-up, general machine operation, and changeovers.
  • Ensuring completion of all required paperwork, including dump logs, chemical logs, downtime logs, blade inspection sheets, and line staffing sheets.
  • Following and completing the daily production schedule, including any changes.
  • Reporting and recording hourly production updates.
  • Training and monitoring PMOs on product quality checks, such as percent oxygen testing, cut quality and blend ratio evaluation, total volume testing, package weight monitoring, seal integrity testing, finished package temperature monitoring, code date verification, and barcode readability verification.
  • Documenting all quality check results and actions.
  • Identifying skill gaps in PMOs and developing action plans for training.
  • Assisting with performance measurements, reviews, and communication of progress.
  • Developing PMO skills to optimize machine efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensuring accurate recording of all data and documentation related to the packaging machine area.
  • Communicating any quality, efficiency, safety, mechanical, or processing issues.
  • Reporting any unsafe acts or situations to a supervisor immediately.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
  • Maintaining regular and reliable attendance.
