About The Position

Smithfield Foods is seeking a Packaging Machine Operator Level 1 for their 1st Shift. This role is crucial in delivering safe, high-quality food by performing essential production tasks and supporting coworkers. The ideal candidate will be reliable, have attention to detail, and a strong work ethic to help meet standards for safety, quality, and teamwork. This position contributes to a positive work environment, helps maintain a safe and efficient production line, and ensures products reach consumers. The role requires technical knowledge of computerized equipment and is physically demanding, requiring good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail. Operators must be able to work their scheduled shift and may be required to work overtime depending on production demands.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age.
• Willing and able to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to perform a task requiring continuous/repetitive movement, including grasping, pinching hands, flexing, and extending arms.
• Ability to stand on concrete and/or platforms for up to a 12-hour shift.
• Willingness to work around animal blood and/or carcass parts.
• Willingness to work with a knife (if trained).
• Ability to work in cold areas (approximately 20-40 degrees) and/or warm areas (over 100 degrees).
• Ability to work in an environment that is wet and humid.
• Ability to work while wearing a hard hat, hearing/eye protection, and steel-toed safety shoes.
• Ability to work in a noisy environment using personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Willingness to work with sanitation/cleaning chemicals.
• Ability to work around strong smells/odors.
• Ability to climb/move on ladders, steps, stairways, walkways and platforms.
• Ability to bend, stoop, and twist repetitively over the course of an entire shift.
• Ability to walk long distances.
• Technical knowledge of computerized equipment.
• Good hand-eye coordination.
• Attention to detail.
