About The Position

This role involves operating packaging lines and performing quality checks to ensure products like Lay's, Doritos, and Cheetos are properly dated, sealed, and packed. The job requires setting up and operating multiple packaging machines, checking for accurate code dates, weights, and appropriate packaging. It also includes maintaining a clean and safe work area, performing basic preventative maintenance on machines, wearing protective gear when using chemicals, inspecting equipment before start-ups and changeovers, and troubleshooting common problems.

Requirements

At least 18 years of age or older
Mechanically inclined
Basic math skills
Able to read and write in English
Able to stand and walk for extended periods of time with or without a reasonable accommodation
Able to climb, bend, reach, stoop, kneel, and stretch for extended periods with or without a reasonable accommodation
Able to repeatedly lift, carry, push, pull, and handle products with or without a reasonable accommodation
Willing and able to work at heights using ladders or lifts to access areas of the plant

Nice To Haves

At least 1 year of machine operator experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment

Responsibilities

Set-up and operate multiple packaging machines to ensure accurate code dates, weights, and that products are put into appropriate bags
Check that products are dated and sealed with minimum amount of waste
Maintain a clean and safe work area for all product
Perform basic preventative maintenance on packaging machines (e.g., cleaning or switching out knives and blades, pull-belts, tape machines, or rollers)
Wear protective gear when using chemicals to clean and sanitize lines during changeovers from one product to another
Inspect conveyors and scales prior to line start-ups and changeovers
Troubleshoot commonplace problems and make operational adjustments
