About The Position

This role is responsible for operating and maintaining packaging equipment to ensure product quality and production efficiency. The operator will perform quality checks, maintain documentation, and adhere to all food safety and sanitation standards. The position requires a high school diploma or GED, at least one year of food manufacturing experience, and the ability to perform physical tasks associated with the role.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1+ years of experience in food manufacturing, with understanding/knowledge of food-safety and quality programs, including GMPs, handwashing, allergen controls, sanitation, and cross-contamination prevention
  • Ability to perform basic shop math
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team
  • Ability to work in an environment with food allergens, dry powder, dust, and wet conditions
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as required by production or business needs
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 10 hours in a shift)
  • Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, pull, or move materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to safely work from a mezzanine workstation or scissor lift up to 20 feet high
  • Frequent use of hands to operate controls, tools, equipment, and packaging materials
  • Frequent reaching, bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and balancing
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle and operate tools, equipment and packaging materials

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and maintain packaging equipment and related machinery (fillers, sealers, x-ray systems, metal detectors, scales, coders, etc.)
  • Make equipment adjustments as needed to ensure products and packaging meet required specifications
  • Perform consistent, accurate quality checks (visual bag inspections, seal-integrity checks, coding verification, weight checks) throughout production
  • Complete Master Manufacturing Records (MMRs), production records, and quality documentation in real time following Good Documentation Practices
  • Continuously monitor equipment and product flow to identify and address faults, errors, or slowdowns
  • Act quickly to identify and address equipment issues or slowdowns
  • Report any/all production concerns to Production Supervisor or Lead promptly for resolution
  • Follow all food-safety requirements, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), safety procedures, and sanitation standards
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area
  • Support team operations through overtime or weekend work when needed
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by leadership
