About The Position

This role is for a Packaging Line Operator in the Mill department, reporting to the Mill Supervisor. The operator will be responsible for productively learning and operating machinery, producing properly packaged pallet loads, and performing preventive maintenance on equipment. Teamwork is essential, as the operator will work with and around various production flows in the Mill. The position requires the ability to work as needed, learn the Factory Floor System, and operate relevant computer software. Operators may be assigned to any area of the plant and are expected to maintain good housekeeping and cleaning standards. Additionally, the role involves training new or back-up operators and performing other duties as directed by the Supervisor or plant leadership.

Requirements

  • Safety – employee cannot have any OSHA recordable or lost time injuries within the past 6 months that were the result of the employee’s actions and/or failure to follow safety policies/procedures.
  • Performance - employee cannot have a corrective action on file for the past 6 months
  • Timing – Employee must have served at least 6 consecutive months in their current position.
  • Required to read and write
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Computer knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common business documents such as packing lists, manifests, bills of lading, pallet tickets, or job orders.
  • Ability to listen and communicate effectively with co-workers and customers/clients in an effort to respond to common inquiries or complaints.
  • Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts like addition, subtraction, multiplication and division to such tasks as inventory control, material ordering, and job order verification.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an assorted number of tasks or instructions.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, hear, bend, and crouch.
  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently required to lift up to 50 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or general equivalency degree (GED) is preferred
  • 1-3 years manufacturing experience preferred
  • Forklift operators experience preferred
