About The Position

This position is responsible for providing leadership and training while managing the workload as the leader for the Packaging department. The role actively engages in daily operations and supports policies and procedures in accordance with the company Vision, Values, and Strategic Objectives. Good oral and written communication skills, computer literacy, strong leadership skills, organizational skills, and the ability to effectively work with and direct a team environment are critical.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Prior supervisory, team lead or foreman experience
  • Ability to motivate through hands-on leadership
  • Verbal, written and math proficiency

Nice To Haves

  • Packaging or process experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an efficient and safe plant environment that meets company and departmental goals.
  • Develop key indicators to measure quality, productivity, and utilization.
  • Train operators and support personnel as needed.
  • Create a team working environment within the area.
  • Evaluate performance of operations.
  • Maintain necessary records for accounting functions and customer audits.
  • Provide basic troubleshooting for equipment and processes.
  • Provide leadership for all department personnel.
  • Utilize the IMS and SPC where applicable.
  • Responsible for quality of work within area.
  • Maintain work environment in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Actively engage in continuous improvement programs such as SOP’s.
  • Ensure proper utilization of company SOP’s.
  • Follow all Personnel Safety policies/procedures, including the use of proper PPE, as well as ensure the safe use of required tools and equipment.
  • Follow all Food Safety, Quality Assurance, GMP's, Sanitation and general plant policies/procedures.
  • Inspect products for overall appearance according to customer and QA/Food Safety requirements and communicate with supervisor when non-conforming products are present.
  • Communicate all safety or environmental issues to supervisors/managers.
  • At end of shift, secure all equipment, perform general housekeeping duties.
  • Complete necessary paperwork for documenting process parameters and recordkeeping requirements.
  • Ensure all regulatory compliance.
  • Follow established Human Resources procedures.
  • Ensure proper training and adherence to area SOP’s.
  • Assist with evaluating the performance of subordinates.
  • Create a team working environment.
  • Develop key indicators to measure quality and productivity.
  • Open Communications to be a team player and do other tasks as necessary.
