About The Position

The Packaging Lead is responsible for ensuring all consumer-packaged goods are packed correctly, in accordance with cGMPs, and ready for customer shipments. The Packaging Lead is also responsible for a team of staff in various packaging and some warehousing processes (e.g., verification of kitted jobs and associated components, etc.). The Packaging Lead works closely with the Primary Packaging Operators to ensure high standards of packaging are maintained and the products are of high quality.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and motivation to packaging staff.
  • Provide instruction on all bottling lines, monitor daily productivity, and appropriately train staff to do job-specific functions on the bottling lines.
  • Implements process improvements for employee safety, quality standards, productivity, costs, and delivery times.
  • Understand and interpret all aspects of the Packaging Batch Record and provide instruction to designated employees on the packaging line.
  • Assist and support regulatory obligations in accordance with 21 CFR 111, HACCP, and Food Safety.
  • Review and provide input on the bottling schedule.
  • Monitor the process flow from raw material component to consumer-packaged goods for each work order, which includes warehouse operations (e.g. verifying Primary Packaging Operators conducted proper reconciliation of all components and case labels, periodically verify bottling lines for quality of product, verifying consumer goods are palletized and labeled properly, trial kit verifications, component staging verification, etc.).
  • Verify and maintain the cleanliness of all related production areas.
  • Ensure bottling lines are in good working order, free of damage, and report any issues to management.
  • Monitor packers assemble and disassemble packaging machinery properly.
  • Examine and inspect containers, materials, and products in order to ensure that packing specifications are met.
  • Sets up all related packaging equipment (counter, capper, labeler, imprint/coder, induction sealer, shrink tunnel, conveyor belts, rails, spacing wheels, etc.) at the beginning of every production run and makes necessary adjustments throughout the run, as required.
  • Auditing all GDP errors in cGMP-related logbooks, tally sheets, and batch records on a daily basis.
  • Monitors and provides support when conducting 100% reconciliation of case labels at the end of each packaging run, as well as rework activities are performed in a controlled state prior to submission of documentation to GDP Clerk.
  • Performs packaging duties using packaging equipment or manually, as needed.
  • Ability to adhere to schedule deadlines, monitor, and provide feedback when meeting the bottling line needs with the packaging schedule.
  • Maintains a clean, sanitary, safe, productive work area.
  • Performs other similar duties and responsibilities, as requested.
  • Fosters open communications and a good attitude toward work and fellow employees.
  • Maintains regular and consistent attendance, in relation to normal work hours and scheduled overtime.
  • Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions, and ensure that product quality is maintained.
  • Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect safety, quality, or personnel safety.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned by management.
