About The Position

This role is responsible for ensuring packaging materials are properly planned, procured, stored, controlled, and available when needed. It involves managing packaging-related master data and planning activities in SAP, managing customer-owned and company-owned packaging inventories, and coordinating purchasing activities for packaging materials and services. The position also supports production and shipping activities by coordinating the staging and delivery of packaging materials, ensuring packaging requirements support production schedules and new product launches, and troubleshooting packaging issues. Additionally, the role supports the development and continuous improvement of packaging solutions, acting as a liaison with the Global Packaging Engineering Team and providing feedback on packaging designs. Safety and continuous improvement are key aspects, focusing on promoting safe packaging practices and driving improvements in packaging performance and material flow. Backup responsibilities include MRO Purchasing and Stores functions.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • 2-5 years of experience in manufacturing, engineering, packaging, supply chain, logistics, inventory management, material handling, or project coordination.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across departments and with global teams.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, logistics, inventory control, material handling, warehouse operations, and supply chain processes.
  • Strong computer proficiency including Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
  • Self-motivated with a continuous improvement mindset.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with warehouse operations, inventory management, and material handling preferred.
  • SAP or ERP experience preferred.
  • Forklift operating experience preferred.
  • CAD or technical drawing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring packaging materials are properly planned, procured, stored, controlled, and available when needed.
  • Managing packaging-related master data and planning activities in SAP.
  • Managing customer-owned and company-owned packaging inventories.
  • Coordinating purchasing activities for packaging materials and services.
  • Monitoring inventory levels and coordinating replenishment activities.
  • Supporting receiving, storage, organization, and inventory control of packaging materials.
  • Improving packaging storage, organization, and material flow throughout the facility.
  • Developing and maintaining processes that improve packaging inventory accuracy, traceability, and accessibility.
  • Investigating and resolving packaging shortages, inventory discrepancies, and material availability issues.
  • Ensuring packaging materials and processes support efficient production and shipping activities.
  • Coordinating staging and delivery of packaging materials to production work centers.
  • Ensuring packaging requirements are established and available to support production schedules and new product launches.
  • Supporting Production, Material Handling, Shipping, and Quality teams on packaging-related issues.
  • Troubleshooting packaging issues impacting production, quality, safety, or delivery performance.
  • Promoting compliance with packaging standards, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Supporting customer and intercompany shipments requiring specialized packaging solutions.
  • Acting as the primary site resource for packaging-related problem solving and cross-functional coordination.
  • Supporting the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of packaging solutions for North American operations.
  • Serving as the primary liaison with the Global Packaging Engineering Team.
  • Coordinating implementation of new packaging concepts and engineering changes.
  • Providing feedback on packaging designs based on manufacturing, material handling, shipping, quality, and customer requirements.
  • Supporting packaging trials, validation activities, and new product launches.
  • Maintaining packaging documentation, standards, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Assisting with packaging drawing modifications and updates when required.
  • Supporting standardization and continuous improvement of packaging concepts across the facility.
  • Promoting safe packaging practices while driving improvements in packaging performance and material flow.
  • Promoting safe storage, handling, and use of packaging materials throughout the facility.
  • Supporting compliance with company safety procedures and standards.
  • Identifying and implementing opportunities to improve packaging processes, warehouse organization, inventory management, and material flow.
  • Leading and supporting cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Utilizing root cause analysis and corrective actions to eliminate recurring packaging issues.
  • Driving improvements in operational efficiency, packaging performance, and inventory accuracy.
  • Providing backup support for MRO Purchasing functions as needed.
  • Providing backup support for MRO Stores and inventory functions as needed.
