About The Position
AbbVie’s Packaging Engineering Co-Op is a paid, six-month program in the Global Packaging organization. Co-ops work on meaningful assignments with an impact on AbbVie’s business and patients worldwide, gaining exposure to a variety of packaging formats and materials. The program includes developmental and networking activities. Housing and shuttle services are available for eligible students. Co-ops are expected to work from AbbVie’s North Chicago campus at least three days per week, in accordance with company policy.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled at a university and pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Packaging or a related field.
- Must return to university in the semester following the co-op.
- Expected graduation date between December 2027 and June 2029.

Responsibilities
- Develop and test packaging for new projects.
- Prepare test protocols and execute tests.
- Identify and select materials and develop specifications.
- Mine data to identify standardization opportunities.
- Identify sustainability and packaging improvement opportunities.
- Coordinate and conduct independent and team experiments in laboratories and manufacturing plants.
