About The Position

This role involves leading end-to-end engineered packaging projects for Vehicle and Energy platforms. The Packaging Engineer will collaborate with various teams to define and develop packaging requirements, ensuring efficient and quality delivery of parts. The position requires providing design direction for protective packaging, utilizing CAD and technical design methods, and driving continuous improvement in packaging standards and sustainability initiatives. Project management responsibilities include overseeing budgets, risks, vendor selection, and change management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Packaging, Industrial Design, or equivalent.
  • Strong CAD skills (Creo, SolidWorks) with experience in technical drawings, GD&T, and tolerance analysis.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, and injection molding.
  • Knowledge of materials including aluminum, steel, composites, and foam.
  • Experience designing to standards such as ASTM and Mil‑Spec.
  • Strong understanding of packaging testing and validation.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining quality results.
  • Excellent communication, risk management, and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30%.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end‑to‑end engineered packaging projects for Vehicle and Energy platforms.
  • Collaborate with Design, Manufacturing, NPI, and Operations teams to gather and develop packaging requirements.
  • Partner with Supply Chain and Logistics to enable efficient delivery of parts without compromising quality.
  • Provide design direction for protective packaging containers, dunnage, and shipping racks (domestic & international).
  • Apply CAD and technical design methods including datum structure, GD&T, and tolerance stack‑up analysis.
  • Monitor KPIs and drive packaging standards and continuous improvement.
  • Manage expendable to returnable packaging projects and sustainability initiatives.
  • Oversee project budgets, risks, vendor selection, and change management.
