About The Position

The Packaging Engineer will demonstrate working knowledge of package engineering principles and techniques, as well as legal requirements and documents. This role involves designing, prototyping, and qualifying standard new packaging concepts in accordance with cGMPs with moderate guidance. The engineer will also evaluate and improve standard existing packaging concepts, and identify, analyze, and specify standard packaging materials and equipment. Support for external resources/contractors is also required. The position requires developing and expanding fundamental knowledge and higher-level skills in packaging, applying them to a variety of standard activities, and working with moderate guidance in one's area of knowledge.

Requirements

• Associate or Bachelor Degree equivalent in Packaging or in relatable field of study.
• 4 – 5 years of experience in medical Device packaging.
• Working knowledge of package engineering principles and techniques.
• Working knowledge of legal requirements and documents.
• Knowledge of the following standards: ISO 13485, ISO 11607, ISO 14971, EU MDR.

Responsibilities

• Designs, prototypes and qualifies standard new packaging concepts in accordance with cGMP's with moderate guidance.
• Evaluates and improves standard existing packaging concepts with moderate guidance.
• Identifies, analyzes and specifies standard packaging materials and equipment with moderate guidance.
• Supports external resource/contractors as required.
• Effectively communicates technical knowledge and validates understanding of other packaging test methods/standards and related equipment.
• Medical device packaging system development for flexible and rigid packaging applications.
• Packaging system verification and validation experience.
• Experience with statistics and design of experiments.
• Knowledgeable and adherent to BD Quality and Corporate Policies.
