About The Position

The Packaging Engineer designs and develops packaging materials, solutions and processes to meet product and marketing requirements, customer needs and manufacturing capabilities. This role is crucial for ensuring that packaging aligns with business objectives and operational realities.

Requirements

Bachelor Degree in a technical discipline or related field
Knowledge in packaging design or engineering
Strong problem solving skills
Good communication skills: verbal, written and presentations
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
Must wear company-provided ESD safety-toed shoes, smock, and other PPE in required areas
Sitting or standing for 8+ hours, reaching, and using hands/fingers to operate a computer and other office equipment
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate any required computer keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments.

Bachelor of Science in Packaging, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
2 years of packaging Experience experience
Experience with CAD systems

Responsibilities

Design and develop packaging materials, solutions and processes to meet product and marketing requirements, customer needs and manufacturing capabilities.
Responsible for all approvals and improvements of supplier packaging during SCR.
Responsible for all approvals and improvements of Customer packaging during NPL.
Drive continuous improvement on packaging designs (cost, quality, density, stack ability) and standardization on customer & supplier side.
Standardization of sizes & variants of all packaging materials (cardboard, totes, pallets, etc.).
Planning and review of total cost of packaging material (budget planning).
Key contact and support for all topics regarding packaging for plant NBT.
Entry point for packaging topics for BA, NPM PUR & SCMA.
Supplier management of packaging suppliers.
Develop and maintain strong working relationships across the supply chain.
Effectively communicate across a wide variety of internal and external customers – crisp, clear, continuous communication.
Utilize and maintain systems (SAP, Supply On, Customer portals, etc.).
Maintain awareness of trends and technologies at the forefront of packaging.
Additional mechanical design work as necessary.
Maintains a safe work environment.

Continually focuses on departmental effectiveness and improvement opportunities.
Effectively communicates with team members, suppliers and multiple levels of management.
