About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Packaging Engineer to play a critical role in launching a new, high-growth temporary display business line focused on corrugated and semi-permanent retail displays. You will operate at the intersection of structural engineering and project/vendor management, translating creative concepts into cost-efficient, manufacturable packaging and display solutions. You will lead initiatives from concept through production, ensuring alignment with business objectives, technical feasibility, operational constraints, and sustainability goals. This newly created role, driven by business expansion, offers the opportunity to help shape how this function evolves from the ground up. This is an existing, full-time vacancy in a hybrid model (minimum 4 days in-office in Scarborough). You will also travel within the GTA to collaborate with vendors on sampling and production, and may travel to the U.S. in the future.

Requirements

  • The experience. You have a background in Packaging Engineering, Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, with practical experience in packaging or structural design. You are an experienced Packaging or Structural Engineer, ideally with exposure to non-food retail, cosmetics, or display-based packaging environments, where timelines are compressed and complexity is high. You are capable of independently taking a concept from brief through to production-ready execution.
  • The technical skills. You are proficient in CAD software such as SolidWorks, ArtiosCAD (Ardeos), AutoCAD, or equivalent platforms, and experienced in producing engineering drawings, dielines, structural models, and 3D visualizations. You are also comfortable using the Adobe Suite to create client- and vendor-facing deliverables, including PDFs, mockups, and presentation materials.
  • The industry knowledge. You have a strong understanding of corrugated materials, paperboard structures, and temporary retail display systems, including manufacturing processes such as die-cutting, folding, gluing, and assembly. You understand how cost drivers, material selection, and production constraints impact design decisions and final execution.
  • The project mindset. You are comfortable managing multiple concurrent projects, coordinating across vendors and internal stakeholders, and operating effectively in a fast-paced, ambiguous, build-and-scale environment. You bring strong organizational discipline and can maintain control of timelines, deliverables, and dependencies.
  • The flexibility. You are open to regular travel within the GTA for vendor engagement and site visits, and hold (or can obtain) a valid passport for potential U.S. travel.
  • The interpersonal skills. You possess strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders. You are effective at building cross-functional partnerships across engineering, commercial, operations, and external vendor teams, and are known for your attention to detail, accountability, and commitment to delivering high-quality outputs in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design and engineer retail displays.
  • Support vendor execution.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally.
  • Optimize cost and manufacturability.
  • Drive innovation in a new business line.
