About The Position

The North America Foods business unit has been identified as a key growth area for Unilever globally. A robust end to end agenda has been created for historical growth over the next 3-5yrs. The primary purpose of this role is to be lead packaging activities to deliver best in class packaging innovations, drive sustainability and impactful cost savings programs for the entire Unilever Condiments category, including Unilever Premium Condiment brands. The right candidate should bring the necessary skillset, attitude and professionalism, along with a strong understanding of rigid packaging development and functional requirements to develop and qualify new pack structures.

Requirements

  • B.S. Degree in Packaging Science, or engineering equivalent
  • 2 to 4 years’ experience in the packaging field.
  • Strong understanding of rigid packaging, with relevant qualification experience on different molding platforms.
  • Must demonstrate understanding of package development process and engineering principles.
  • Must demonstrate ability to design and develop primary and secondary packaging components that meet consumer, Brand, customer, and manufacturing objectives.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a general understanding of project management to realize the order, importance, and impact of appropriate project activities and maintain Packaging commitments to project scheduling.
  • Must understand consumer, business, and category needs and the relationship to packaging decisions & execution.

Responsibilities

  • Delivering key packaging activities to support Innovations, Cost Savings, Business Continuity, and Sustainability programs OTIF.
  • Managing multiple package development projects and prioritizing tasks based on timelines.
  • Working effectively in a cross-functional team environment with Brand, Planning, Product Group R&D, Procurement, Quality, and material suppliers.
  • Ideating and implementing large scale cost savings programs, requiring influencing and leadership skills to gain stakeholder buy-in and drive projects from concept to completion.
  • Interfacing with Manufacturing and Supply Chain for packaging related projects including line trials, production start-ups, cost savings, improving line efficiencies related to packaging, and resolving documentation issues for specifications.
  • Communicating and collaborating effectively with teams composed of individuals with technical and non-technical backgrounds and perspectives.
  • Providing technical guidance to junior team members, holding suppliers accountable, and challenging the status quo.
