About The Position

The AES Group INC is hiring a Packaging Engineer – Retail to support a high-visibility retail packaging program. This role focuses on packaging materials, supplier quality, and product safety/compliance for consumer-facing packaging. You’ll partner closely with packaging engineering, supplier quality, and cross-functional teams to ensure packaging solutions meet performance, safety, and quality standards.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in packaging engineering, materials science, supplier quality, or related quality programs (consumer products, food & beverage, retail packaging preferred).
  • Strong packaging/materials background with emphasis on plastics, pulp, and paper.
  • Experience developing or implementing quality programs, product standards, supplier/manufacturer quality systems, and/or product quality auditing with a materials focus.
  • Experience managing documentation and processes supporting product safety and quality compliance.
  • Working knowledge of Quality Management Systems and standards such as HACCP, GMPs, ISO, GFSI, BRC, and a foundational understanding of food safety and quality requirements.
  • Technical Packaging (2+ years)
  • Communication (2+ years): strong written/verbal skills; concise summarization; ability to break down complex topics clearly
  • Adaptability / Quick ramp-up (1+ year): agility in fast-changing environments

  • Similar retail/consumer packaging experience in prior roles.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with packaging engineering and quality stakeholders to support retail packaging initiatives.
  • Track and manage compliance activities across packaging programs and suppliers.
  • Apply technical expertise to evaluate and improve single-use packaging materials, including: poly-coated paperboard (hot cups), PP (cups/lids), PLA, PHA, molded pulp, corrugate, containerboard, utensils, and related components.
  • Support testing, supplier assessments, and product evaluations to gather insights and improve quality outcomes.
  • Analyze quality signals and trends using metrics, audit inputs, feedback, and regulatory or workgroup findings.
  • Lead investigations and drive resolution of packaging-related quality or safety concerns affecting stores, field quality partners, or internal teams.
  • Interface with suppliers and cross-functional partners (including international stakeholders) to deliver results under demanding timelines.
  • Serve as a product safety and quality contributor in the development of new packaging initiatives and operating practices.
