Requirements

  • Grade 12 English and Math or equivalent required
  • Self-motivated and ability to work well under pressure with minimal supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Mathematical skills and ability to calculate dimensions/figures
  • Accuracy and attention to detail required
  • Effective time management skills and ability to plan/prioritize multiple tasks
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to provide guidance to others
  • Must have a strong awareness of safety
  • Computer literate (MS office - Word, Excel, Outlook)

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate materials and packaging processes for durability, cost, and environmental impact.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality and supply chain teams to implement packaging solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Optimize packaging processes for efficiency, cost reduction, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Participates in team meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Performs all job functions abiding by the office/work standards as outlined in the company handbook.
  • Performs all job functions in a safe, healthful and environmentally conscious manner, abiding by all health, safety and environmental rules and regulations as outlined in the company handbook.
  • Manage and update customer packaging portals with new program data and specification changes.
  • Conduct independent fleet counts and inventory analysis to assess packaging stock levels across programs.
  • Create and maintain packaging instructions and specifications for production operators.
  • Coordinate with suppliers on custom packaging projects to ensure timely delivery and quality standards.
  • Identity packaging issues impacting product quality and facilitate solutions by liaising between production, customers, and engineering.
  • Arrange repairs and maintenance of packaging equipment and materials with local suppliers.
  • Support the packaging engineer on new program launches.
