About The Position

This is a 7-month summer/fall co-op program for a Packaging Engineer student. The intern will gain exposure to various real-world Mars projects, leading and executing packaging innovation projects under guidance, supporting value leadership and cost savings goals, developing detailed packaging specifications, and performing packaging sustainability assignments. The role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams such as product development, equipment engineering, activity management, finance, and industrial engineering. The Mars Internship Experience is a 10-11 week summer program providing depth of experience with real business problems and opportunities, including professional and social engagement activities, networking opportunities, and formal mentorship. The internship is located in Chicago, Illinois.

Requirements

Agile students with a drive for results, a desire to learn, and who can quickly build relationships.
Students who are passionate about packaging and the consumer products industry.
Eligible candidates will intern the summer prior to their final graduation date.
Open to students legally authorized to work in the U.S., without the need for current or future work status authorization or visa sponsorship for employment.
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of drug & background screening.
Eligible candidates will be responsible for personal transportation to and from work site during duration of the internship program.

Responsibilities

Lead and execute packaging innovation projects under the guidance of packaging associates.
Support ideating and realizing value leadership and cost savings goals.
Develop detailed packaging specifications to ensure quality materials and best value for money on all packaging components used at our facilities, co-packers and co-manufacturers.
Perform packaging sustainability assignments to help meet Mars Wrigley sustainability goals.
Collaborate with cross functional team members including product development, equipment engineering, activity management, finance, industrial engineer and others.
