Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
  • One to three months related lead experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups, customers/vendors or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in oral form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving one concrete variable in standardized situations.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with Safety work rules at all times and reinforce Safety as a Core Value.
  • Ensure all policies, procedures and activities related to Food Safety & Quality are followed and complied with uniformly.
  • Ensure regulatory Compliance.
  • Assist the shift supervisor in managing the Packaging Department.
  • Assist in training of all processing and production personnel in the assigned department.
  • Provide a safe work environment for all personnel and ensure all production complies with food safety standards.
  • Work with department lead and/or supervisors to maintain sanitation standards of the facility.
  • Coordinate with processors the system readiness, lines to be run, product type and amount, and line sterilization to meet production requirements.
  • Coordinate the need and arrival of packaging materials for each line, ensuring all supply needs are met.
  • Maintain an effective working relationship between all members of the department and other areas.
  • Verify accuracy and completeness of operator down time, temperature charts, and other documentation before submission to the shift supervisor.
  • Communicate with co-workers at shift change to ensure accurate information transfer regarding production, scheduling, etc.
  • Continually monitor lines for quality product and notify appropriate personnel of any discrepancies.
  • Monitor rework inventories and coordinate rework activity to ensure product is reworked before it becomes inedible.
  • Follow all PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) requirements and safety procedures.
  • Follow all GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) procedures, such as washing hands, throughout the day.
  • Follow all HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) guidelines.
  • Follow all SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) and SSOP (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures) and keep all records updated.
  • Follow all USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) regulations and guidelines.
  • Report and fill out work orders on maintenance issues as they relate to productivity, food safety, quality, and human safety.
  • Encourage suggestions from employees to improve productivity, quality, and/or control production costs.
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance.
  • Be accountable for a safe and healthy workplace for everyone.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks.
  • Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions, and ensure product quality is maintained.
  • Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality, or personnel safety.
  • Be responsible for Food Safety and Food Quality of MFI products.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
