About The Position

The packager position is responsible to perform all tasks conducted by the team in the assembly process and rotate through all or most of them rather than being assigned to a specific task on a permanent basis. This role involves operating, cleaning, and maintaining various manufacturing equipment, ensuring product quality, performing troubleshooting and minor repairs, and maintaining a clean work area. The position also includes training other operators, performing equipment changeovers, and adhering to all company policies regarding safety, food safety, and environmental protocols.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED certificate.
  • 1 + years’ experience as a team leader in a manufacturing facility.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Must be dependable and trustworthy.

  • Preferably in food manufacturing.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Operating, cleaning, and maintaining multiple pieces of manufacturing equipment.
  • Material handling to the production line.
  • Set-up, changeover, operation, and troubleshooting of all retail packaging equipment - spiral through Final Case palletizing.
  • Ensuring finished product conforms to specifications.
  • Removing damaged products or supplies, as needed.
  • Performing production, package, and product changeovers.
  • Maintaining required product inspection processes.
  • Performing basic troubleshooting and minor repairs to ensure production equipment runs efficiently.
  • Performing preventative maintenance, clearing jams, and setting up for new production runs.
  • Operating all manufacturing equipment (including new technologies) efficiently and safely.
  • Maintaining a clean work area through good housekeeping practices.
  • Performing cleaning, inspection, and lubrication of equipment.
  • Keeping daily records of product, temperatures, weights, and down time.
  • Working well with others in a team-oriented atmosphere.
  • Training other packaging machine operators or cross-training other PMOMs.
  • Understanding and performing equipment changeovers in a timely manner.
  • Quickly learning and explaining the operating principles for assigned equipment.
  • Understanding and performing manufacturer-related sanitation and assembly tasks on equipment.
  • Performing basic technical functions such as removing belts for cleaning and changing out basic damaged components.
  • Notifying and explaining to maintenance when the assigned equipment is not running to center line.
  • Assisting in the development of a lubrication schedule for the assigned equipment and executing the schedule.
  • Gaining a subject matter expert level of understanding of the operational principles of the assigned equipment.
  • Operating a pallet jack.
  • Performing miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • Following all Good Manufacturing Practices as stated within the policy.
  • Following all Safety rules & procedures by working safely and ensuring safety of others.
  • Following all food safety procedures.
  • Following all environmental protocols as applicable.
  • Following all sanitation procedures and work instructions.
