The Packaging & Labeling technician performs assembly, labeling and packaging of all finished good tissue destined for distribution. Provide customer service to both internal and external customers. Participate in physical inventory of all labeled and unlabeled tissue in quarantine status. Monitor inventory levels of supplies using FIFO and Kanban systems in the package and labeling area; request replenishment of supplies on an as needed basis.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1 - 3 years of experience in data entry, inventory, packaging/assembly or related fields
  • Well organized and self-motivated
  • Proficient in data entry
  • Proficient in basic functions within Microsoft Office including Outlook & Excel
  • Strong proof-reading skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Able to work independently while contributing towards a common team goal.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree
  • 2 - 5 years of experience
  • Background or experience in an ERP system, tissue banking or related field preferred
  • Ability to multitask, troubleshoot and problem solve.

Responsibilities

  • Perform various quality compliance checks on the tissue and packaging throughout the process in order to ensure all grafts meet MTF specifications.
  • Perform visual verification and compliance checks on tissue quality, seal and label integrity during the labeling and post labeling verification steps.
  • Reconcile all applicable packaging and labeling reports against tissue and additional documentation.
  • Review multiple document inputs for accuracy and completeness.
  • Retrieve charts from designated area on a daily basis based on FIFO, demand or prioritize in order to meet targets driven by forecast, inventory and backorder needs.
  • Works with project management to assist in performing dry runs and first unit inspections; responds to high priority and rush requests from multiple departments to meet inventory needs and backorders.
  • Responsible to ensure that all frozen tissue remains in contact with ice throughout the process. This requires preparing dry ice for handling prior to and during the labeling process, returning frozen tissue to respective freezers post verification and preparing coolers for shipment of frozen tissue between facilities.
  • Identify and correct data entry errors on all documents.
  • Maintain knowledge, training and competence on MTF’s safety and hazardous waste/material handling.
  • Monitor inventory levels of all supplies needed to package and label. Communicate with Supply Chain/Purchasing to request replenishment. Reconcile supply delivery and re-stocks supplies appropriately.
  • Retrieve tissue from quarantined locations in order to prepare for package and labeling on an as needed basis to assist Inventory Control.
  • Adhere to MTF’s housekeeping initiative, safety requirements, PPE requirements in their respective work area(s) and throughout the facility as necessary. Perform weekly cleaning of workstations and maintain cleaning records in their respective areas.
  • Perform quarterly physical inventory of all unlabeled and labeled tissue in the quarantine areas. Use the QAD system, handheld barcode scanners and Microsoft Excel to capture the lot/serial number of units.
  • Perform cycle count on an as needed basis. Use manual logs to take inventory of physical locations. Report discrepancies to a higher-level employee.
  • Responsible for maintaining inventory levels of Package Inserts (PI’s) printed in house. Use the EDMS to print necessary quantities of the PI and complete appropriate documentation. PI’s are to be reviewed for printing integrity prior to delivering to Quality Control for approval. Utilize a Martin Yale folding machine to fold all PI’s printed in house.
  • Monitor EDMS notifications to ensure the appropriate/current revisions of all PI’s are stocked. Review comments on InfoCard for instructions on transitioning to an updated revision. Responsible for the initiation of the appropriate documents in order to destroy and re-stock PI’s. Destruction of outdated PI’s and re-stocking of updated PI’s in designated area.
  • Able to work in an EDMS (Electronic Data Management System) to read and understand all job-related SOP’s.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
