About The Position

The Package Handler efficiently processes and sorts mail and parcels, ensuring labels are accurately printed and correctly placed. The role follows processing and sorting procedures to maintain quality and accuracy, meets or exceeds sorting and processing targets, and helps support other operational areas as needed. Work takes place in a warehouse environment with frequently changing temperatures, frequent exposure to dust and dirt, changing lighting, and a constant medium noise level.

Requirements

Sort alphabetically and numerically.
Understand standardized math processes, including counting, addition, and subtraction.
Maintain consistent performance over extended periods in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Work effectively with well-outlined procedures and clear instructions.
Build strong working relationships through regular engagement with team members.
Walk, push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds; additional weight may be required with assistance.
Reach overhead, squat, bend, or kneel for most of the work shift.
Transport mail using a pallet jack.

High school education or equivalent training and/or related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Sort and process incoming mail and parcels according to designated area requirements and quality standards.
Meet or exceed sorting and processing targets consistently.
Inspect mail to ensure labels are correctly affixed and the zip code on each label matches the address zip code.
Operate sorting machinery, which may involve loading cardboard boxes (Gaylords) or bins and rapidly placing mail or parcels onto conveyors.
Scan labels and maintain the workstation.
Keep the work area clean.
Adapt to different operational areas as needed to support the business.
