About The Position

The Packer's position is necessary to ensure finished goods profiles are properly packed to customer requirements. Packing is also the final step in the process, and inspection is required to visually discard any defective material when packing. This role involves the ability to cross-train in other departments. The primary duties include packing material from age racks, placing it in proper packing material with correct nesting, and verifying piece counts. The role also requires inspecting material for cut length, profile conformation, and ensuring quality standards are followed. Maintaining an organized and clean workspace, restocking packing supplies, and contributing to continuous improvement efforts are key aspects of this position. The Pack Lead is responsible for ensuring production requirements and standards are met consistently, making every effort to increase productivity and efficiency without compromising quality. Tasks include completing packaging tasks such as assembly, stacking, and binding, operating machinery correctly and maintaining it with care, and reporting any machinery issues to management. The role requires working cooperatively with the production team to meet quotas and goals, setting up the packing queue to ensure the next to ship orders are ready for trucks, and having packing stations ready for pack teams. This includes quality procedure confirmation, ensuring proper packing recipes are utilized, and that all teams are working at an acceptable pace. The Pack Lead will manage the movement of material to maximize packer production, train new team members on procedures, drive continuous improvement efforts, and work directly with shipping to support the packing/shipping plan.
