About The Position

The American School for the Deaf (ASD) is seeking a PACES Clinical Social Worker to provide therapeutic support to deaf and hard-of-hearing children with emotional and behavioral challenges within the PACES Residential Treatment Program. This role involves crisis intervention, consultation with families and community resources, and development of treatment plans and IEP goals. The position requires a Master's degree in Counseling or Social Work, relevant licensure, and experience with Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing clients. Fluency in ASL is mandatory. The role includes second shift duties, on-call coverage, and potential supervision of interns.

Requirements

Graduates from an accredited college or university with a Master’s degree in Counseling or Social Work.
Hold certification or licensure, to include an LPC, CISW, LCSW, or the expressive therapies.
One or more years of experience counseling Deaf/Hard of Hearing clients.
Ability to work effectively with related professionals, children, and parents.
Ability to keep records and make appropriate reports and recommendations.
Fluent in ASL.

Previous experience in a residential or day program for deaf and/or hard of hearing children with severe emotional disturbance.

Responsibilities

Provides therapeutic support to deaf and hard-of-hearing children with emotional and behavioral challenges.
Offers crisis intervention support to the residential program.
Provides consultation and support services to parents, families, and other community resources.
Assists with the identification of treatment needs of students and development of Treatment Plans.
Ensures the application of treatment goals into the residential setting and across school-wide milieus.
Assists Residential Counselors and Assistant Deans with developing routine schedules, sensory activities, and other therapeutic interventions.
Has an assigned caseload and provides individual, group, and family counseling to students.
Provides consultation to parents and families regarding their child.
Develops measurable goals and objectives on I.E.P.s.
Refers students to outside social service agencies and participates in joint-case planning.
Provides crisis intervention services to students.
Provides transition information to students and assists with implementation of discharge plans.
Prepares and maintains records on students as mandated by licensing agencies.
Provides on-call support during evenings and weekends.
Works a schedule to include 2 shifts to cover nights/weekends.
Accommodates schedule changes for student and family-related meetings and training.
May participate in admissions for new students.
May supervise interns.
Provides consultation to faculty and staff.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
