About The Position

Seeking an experienced Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to provide supplemental hospitalist coverage, specifically for night shifts. The APP will work under the general supervision of their Medical Director, all physician partners, and their APP Manager within WakeMed Physician Practices to deliver competent medical care to patients at WakeMed. This role may involve both inpatient and outpatient care based on service needs, including completing referrals, consults, daily patient rounds, daily notes, discharge summaries, procedures, clinic notes, pre and post-procedure care, prescribing, and patient care follow-ups. The position emphasizes collaboration with other healthcare providers in a multidisciplinary approach to patient care. The APP will also serve as an educator for PA/NP/CNM students from healthcare education programs. The scope of practice must align with the policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines of the North Carolina Medical Board or North Carolina Board of Nursing, as well as other federal or state regulatory agencies and WakeMed policies. Additional certifications like Advanced Life Support may be required based on the clinical area and reviewed annually. The APP must understand the organization's needs and support WakeMed's mission, values, and management.

Requirements

  • Licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner (with valid nursing licensure) Required
  • DEA Required
  • Basic Life Support Required - Within 6 Months of Hire
  • Bachelor's Degree Physician Assistant or Master's Degree Physician Assistant Required or Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree Nursing Required
  • 1 Year Clinical Experience as Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Required

Responsibilities
