About The Position

UPMC Hillman Cancer Center is hiring a Full-Time Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner to help support their team in York, PA! Hours: Monday-Friday, daylight hours. No evenings, weekends, or holidays required. Location: UPMC York Memorial Hospital - 1703 Innovation Drive, York, PA 17404. This position will provide primarily inpatient hematology/oncology consultation in the UPMC York Memorial Hospital. APPs are typically responsible for 1 area hospital per day, though with teamwork expectations of possible coverage at a second hospital site as needed for service line coverage. CRNPs are expected to obtain their advanced oncology certified nurse practitioner certification (AOCP) within 3 years of hire. UPMC Central PA provides a unique opportunity to work with the world-renowned Hillman Cancer Center, while maintaining point of care as close to home as possible. We have 3 hospitals within the Harrisburg area- West Shore Hospital, Harrisburg Hospital, and Community Osteopathic Hospital and 2 outpatient oncology offices within the Harrisburg area. All of our cancer center APPs report directly to a supervising APP. Our Central PA hem/onc team continues tremendous growth over the last few years and we lean on the experiences of each other and our physicians as we strive to provide the best cancer care in the area. The Staff or Senior Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner and a member of the care delivery team. The APP is responsible to set the standards for the level and quality of care. The APP has responsibility, authority, and accountability for the provision of care through supervision by and collaboration with a physician. The APP manages and provides patient care activities for a group of patients and their families through the application of independent judgment, communication, and collaboration with all team members. The role of the APP encompasses the beginnings of leadership, partnership, collaboration, and supervision. The APP establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians, other health care providers, patients, and their families, to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care. The APP begins to demonstrate a commitment to the community and to their healthcare profession. The successful candidate will be placed according to years and months of experience for employment purposes.

For CRNP: Successful completion of an approved nurse practitioner program is required.
For CRNP: Current state RN license and CRNP certification are required.
For CRNP: National certification, eligible for licensure by Pennsylvania board of nursing, eligible for certification as a CRNP by Pennsylvania state board of nursing.
For CRNP: Current CPR certification is required.
For CRNP: Act 33 Clearance will be required.
For CRNP: Act 73 Clearance will be required.
For CRNP: Act 34 Clearance required.
For CRNP: Obtain advanced oncology certified nurse practitioner certification (AOCP) within 3 years of hire.
For PA: A graduate of a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the physician assistant (ARC-PA) is required.
For PA: Current state PA license certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is required.
For PA: Current CPR certification is required.
For PA: Act 33 Clearance will be required.
For PA: Act 73 Clearance will be required.
For PA: Act 34 Clearance required.
For Senior Level: Minimum 3 years of experience or Completion of a post-graduate residency.
For Senior Level: The successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner or a graduate of a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the physician assistant (ARC-PA) program is required.
For Senior Level: Completion of National Certification.
For Senior Level: Must achieve a Solid/Strong/Good performance rating or higher on annual performance evaluation for consideration and to maintain status annually.
For Senior Level: Completion of an OAPP approved professional contribution within one year of hire or promotion into the position.
For Senior Level: Must have department chair approval for promotion.
For Senior Level: ACLS or ITLS or NALS or PALS or ACLS or other certifications listed must meet AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
For Senior Level (OAPP): If practicing in an outpatient or other non-inpatient setting, APPs can use one of the certifications above or use a business unit approved certification which is relevant, and value added to the practice setting.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in hematology/oncology is preferred.
BSN, MSN is preferred (for CRNP).
Professional nursing experience and/or nurse practitioner experience is preferred (for CRNP).
BS or MS candidate is preferred (for PA).
Experience as a physician assistant and/or experience in a clinical setting is preferred (for PA).
