About The Position

UPMC University of Pittsburgh Physicians is hiring a Full-Time Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner to help support their Geriatric Psychiatry Department! This position provides behavioral health services in multiple long term care facilities in Allegheny County. The WPH LTC program uses a team approach with both a psychiatrist and APP providing services at each LTC site. In additional to clinical duties, the APP is the key member of the team to liaison with each facility's staff and in that role, may participate in facility meetings and provide staff education. The Western Psychiatric Long Term Care Program has been partnering with LTC facilities for more than 30 years. Our LTC facility partners include assisted living sites, skilled nursing facilities, memory units and specialized long term behavioral health units. We utilize a team based approach with both an APP and psychiatrist assigned to each facility we serve. Our team values quality care and supports ongoing provider education.

Requirements

Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP): The successful completion of an approved nurse practitioner program is required.
Current state RN license and CRNP certification are required.
National certification, eligible for licensure by Pennsylvania board of nursing, eligible for certification as a CRNP by Pennsylvania state board of nursing.
Current CPR certification is required.
Act 33 Clearance will be required.
Act 73 Clearance will be required.
Act 34 Clearance required.
Physician Assistant (PA): A graduate of a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the physician assistant (ARC-PA) is required.
Current state PA license certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is required.
Current CPR certification is required.
Act 33 Clearance will be required.
Act 73 Clearance will be required.
Act 34 Clearance required.
Senior Level: Minimum 3 years of experience or Completion of a post-graduate residency.
The successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner or a graduate of a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the physician assistant (ARC-PA) program is required.
Completion of National Certification.
Must achieve a Solid/Strong/Good performance rating or higher on annual performance evaluation for consideration and to maintain status annually.
Completion of an OAPP approved professional contribution within one year of hire or promotion into the position.
Must have department chair approval for promotion.
ACLS or ITLS or NALS or PALS or ACLS or other certifications listed must meet AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
OAPP: If practicing in an outpatient or other non-inpatient setting, APPs can use one of the certifications above or use a business unit approved certification which is relevant, and value added to the practice setting.

Nice To Haves

BSN, MSN is preferred (for CRNP).
Professional nursing experience and/or nurse practitioner experience is preferred.
BS or MS candidate is preferred (for PA).
Experience as a physician assistant and/or experience in a clinical setting is preferred.
BSN, MSN preferred for CRNP, BS or MS preferred for PA.
