About The Position

Engineering Partners (EPI) is a well-known engineering company in San Diego with utility, municipality, and government contracts focusing on electrical and power engineering. We are currently seeking an experienced Electrical Substation Engineer with a BSEE degree, PE licensed and have 8+ years of recent relevant experience in Substation P&C Design.

Requirements

BS Electrical Engineering – required.
Professional Engineer (P.E.) – required.
Minimum 8+ years of experience required in substation P&C design.
Knowledge of industry specifications for HV electrical equipment.
Familiar with international and North American electrical codes and regulations.
Proven ability to work collaboratively with multi-discipline teams to deliver projects on time and on budget.
U.S. Citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident status required.
Understanding of Power Systems analysis and related software packages (e.g. SKM, ETAP, etc.)
Familiarity with AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

Prepare reports that present technical and project information in a clear and concise manner to meet client requirements.
Engineer HV substation projects from conceptual design through construction.
Prepare electrical P&C design packages consisting of One-line, three-lines, wiring diagrams, control schematics, site plan, Electrical Plan & Sections, Grounding Plan & Details, Conduit Plan and Details, Control House Plan, Control House Grounding Plan & Details, Lighting Plan, Lightning Protection Plan, and Bill of Materials (BOM).
Coordinate with Designers and Engineers of other disciplines to complete deliverables.
Interpret and incorporate vendor information into design deliverables.
Perform QA/QC of electrical engineering design packages.
Provide regular progress updates and reporting on project deliverables.
Develop single line and three line diagrams for protection and controls of Substation equipment and medium voltage switchgear.
Provide Substation equipment specifications.
Provide engineering and technical support, and reviews to field crews during construction.
Inspire others through your passion for Power Delivery and Substation Design.

Support, guide, and counsel on technical topics as a subject matter expert.
Advise, advocate and be an ally for junior colleagues and EITs to help them reach their potential.
