About The Position

PHASOR Engineering Inc. specializes in power system engineering, design, and the testing and commissioning of medium to high voltage electrical facilities. Based in Alberta with projects across Canada, we are committed to delivering efficient, cost-effective solutions from early-stage engineering through final startup. We are expanding our presence in British Columbia and are hiring a P&C Commissioning Specialist for a full-time, field based position. This role involves working extended rotational shifts out of town and offers the chance to contribute across a wide variety of commissioning projects. The ideal candidate is a skilled communicator and meticulous problem solver who is energized by technically demanding fieldwork.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Electrician Journeyman certification, or an Electrical Engineering Technologist Diploma from an accredited institution.
  • At least 4 years of protection and controls relay testing experience in the utilities industry.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with advanced relay test sets (Omicron CMC356, CMC500, or similar).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational abilities with the capacity to manage multiple priorities.
  • Solid computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Analytical mindset with strong risk assessment and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Willingness to travel and work extended shifts away from home.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada; VISA sponsorship is not offered for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Leading testing and commissioning activities for MV/HV protection and control systems serving utility, power generation, and industrial clients.
  • Performing secondary injection testing of microprocessor relays and IEDs with equipment such as the Omicron CMC356 and CMC500.
  • Testing and validating SCADA point configurations.
  • Interpreting engineering drawings and diagnosing technical issues in real time.
  • Documenting findings and preparing commissioning reports for client review.
  • Assisting in the development of startup procedures and field work instructions.
  • Adhering to all corporate, client, and industry safety requirements.
  • Engaging directly with clients on technical inquiries and resolution of field issues.
