About The Position

Red Bank Veterinary Hospital (RBVH) is seeking an Inpatient Technician who is personable, self-motivated, and a strong communicator with excellent organizational skills. In this role, you will assist with a variety of daily tasks while collaborating closely with all departments across the hospital. The Inpatient Technician’s primary responsibility is to provide care for the hospitalized patients that are deemed stable according to the veterinarian’s evaluation and RBVH’s defined levels of hospitalization. This individual will assess patients and facilitate treatments under the direction of the supervising veterinarian. They will have excellent communication with the supervising veterinarian and address concerns with the patients as they arise. The ER Inpatient Technician is expected to work with all doctors, technicians, and assistants to perform diagnostics and execute treatment plans for the hospitalized patient.

Requirements

  • Three years of experience working as a nursing team member in a veterinary hospital is required.
  • One Year + of experience working as an ER inpatient technician
  • Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role

Nice To Haves

  • Credentialed as a Veterinary Technician (LVT/CVT/RVT)
  • Prior experience working in an Emergency Hospital as an Inpatient Technician in an Overnight role
  • fluency in multiple languages

Responsibilities

  • Basic husbandry and care for domestic and exotic patients
  • Monitor patient status: vitals, mentation, pain score
  • Nursing procedures: phlebotomy, IVC/IVF therapy, cystocentesis, urinary catheter care, medication administration (oral, topical, injectable), restraint, in- and out-patient care, abdominocentesis/thoracocentesis/pericardiocentesis, oxygen cage operation, transfusion therapy, PICC line care, recumbent patient care, feeding and sampling line care
  • Triage, sedation/anesthesia monitoring, recognize CPA & initiate CPR
  • Disease processes and disinfection protocols
  • Basic anatomy, physiology, pharmacology (Cubex use, common medications)
  • Medical math, lab skills (basic bloodwork, lab submissions), radiograph positioning, medical terminology
  • Record keeping, equipment operation, stocking and cleaning, aftercare
  • Knowledge and adherence to hospital policies
  • Communication skills, appropriate uniforms, professional appearance
