About The Position

The Overnight Stocker is an essential member of Hy-Vee’s overnight crew, keeping store shelves full, organized, and ready for customers. The role involves unloading trucks, rotating and stocking products, tagging shelves, organizing the backroom, and supporting a smooth overnight operation. The position is physically demanding and performed primarily during overnight hours. Prior experience is not required; training and support are provided. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, and up to six months of similar or related experience is preferred.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, and percentages.
Ability to communicate clearly and helpfully with customers and teammates.
Ability to stay organized and keep up with the pace of a busy overnight shift.
Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing 100 pounds or more, with or without mechanical assistance.
Ability to stand and walk continuously on hard surfaces for extended periods.
Ability to unload, lift, stock, and rotate incoming truck freight and merchandise.
Where applicable, ability to operate pallet jacks, forklifts, or similar material-handling equipment; required operator certification must be completed before independent use.
Where applicable, ability to safely use sharp knives and blades to cut, trim, or grind product.
Where applicable and in accordance with age and legal requirements, ability to operate a cardboard baler or compactor.
Where applicable, ability to perform repetitive motions associated with dough mixing, scaling, and proofing.
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen is required.

Responsibilities

Provide outstanding customer service by warmly greeting customers and helping them find what they need.
Assist customers with finding products, reaching items, and carrying heavy purchases; share customer feedback or requests with the team.
Unload trucks, open containers, stock shelves, place overstock on risers, and rotate products to ensure freshness.
Monitor for mis-picked items, product outs, and incorrect deliveries, and report issues.
Organize stock efficiently and clean and restock damaged items.
Tag shelves with overstock in the back room and understock drawers.
Report new or different items to the scanning coordinator for system input.
Work with teammates to support an efficient overnight operation.
Follow Hy-Vee’s dress code, hygiene standards, and company policies.
Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed.
