About The Position
The YMCA of the Roses is seeking compassionate and dependable Overnight Shelter Associates for our Low Barrier Shelter at Clay Street in Lancaster City. Help provide a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment while supporting shelter guests throughout the night. Schedule: Overnight shifts during shelter operations, 7:00 PM–7:00 AM. We currently have full time and part time positions available.
Requirements
- Empathy, strong communication, and comfort with diverse populations
- Working knowledge of crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and trauma-informed care
- Ability to follow protocols, protect confidentiality, and work overnight/weekend/holiday shifts
- Obtain Criminal background check, Child Abuse Clearance, and FBI fingerprint clearance.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in a shelter or residential setting
Responsibilities
- Support guests with check-in/intake, bed assignments, and basic needs
- Monitor common areas, showers, and overall facility activity
- Provide supplies as needed and help keep spaces clean and orderly
- Use de-escalation/crisis support techniques when situations escalate
- Communicate clearly with teammates and case managers for smooth shift handoff
