About The Position

The Security Officer is responsible for monitoring and protecting Winter Park Resort assets while ensuring the safety and well-being of guests, employees, and company property. This position plays a vital role in maintaining a secure environment by being highly visible to guests, interacting regularly with guests and employees, through physical inspections, enforcement of policies and procedures, interpretation of management guidelines, and effective problem-solving in a variety of situations. Security Officers are expected to respond to both routine and emergency situations in a professional and timely manner, providing support in matters that may involve guests, employees, or resort operations. The Officer must consistently adhere to all Winter Park policies and procedures, as well as applicable federal, state, and local laws.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and have a clear record check (WP Resort approved)
  • Ability to drive automobiles (Automatic/Standard Shift), 4-wheel drive vehicles
  • Basic computer knowledge and experience
  • High School diploma or GED – required

Nice To Haves

  • First Aid/CPR Certification (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of two-way radios (resort) and two-way radios (Grand County Sheriff’s Department) (Preferred)
  • Experience with vehicle lock-out tools, jumper cables, and digital cameras (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of alarm systems (Preferred)
  • Experience with wildland fire equipment (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of Hazardous Chemical Manuals (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Interact continually with guests, visitors and staff in a friendly, courteous and professional manner.
  • Serve as an ambassador to building and maintaining a world-class Culture of Safety and Security.
  • Monitor buildings, vehicles, and key access areas
  • Manage and assist with 24-hour building access for guests and employees using keys, card access, alarm access, and door codes
  • Partner with other departments to assist with jump starts, lockouts, and towing (during regular work hours and after hours)
  • Assist guests by addressing complaints and resolving problems, often in stressful situations
  • Provide information, assist with lost persons, and resolve ski equipment mix-ups
  • Handle Lost and Found services (including after hours and during the off season)
  • Monitor snowfall and make calls for snow removal
  • Monitor and patrol buildings, vehicle areas, and foot traffic zones
  • Vary shifts according to available manpower and work responsibilities
  • Maintain 100% documentation of night logs
  • Provide 24-hour coverage for Winter Park Resort so problems can be dealt with promptly
  • Follow key authorization procedures for each department
  • Provide assistance to Winter Park Resort employees in areas such as vehicle problems, guest conflicts, assisting as a liaison with law enforcement and emergency services.
  • Maintain flexibility to fulfill Security contract requests with outside vendors
  • Maintain competent procedures for enforcing rules and regulations at Winter Park Resort.
  • Serve as a liaison to local law enforcement for all matters related to local, state and federal laws and regulations (including, but not limited to theft, assault, motor vehicle violations, etc.).
  • Uphold these enforcement procedures through investigation and proper reporting
  • Monitor the area for emergency situations that may develop
  • Respond quickly and effectively to reduce risks for guests and employees, including situations involving wild animal encounters.
  • Maintain and monitor fire extinguisher maintenance, , and training
  • Maintain burglar protection systems and hold-up protection for the area
  • Provide assistance in activating emergency services (e.g. 911) and/or Patrol depending on location of injury and time of day
  • Perform interviews and investigations for risk management, traffic accidents, theft, and ticket fraud
  • Handle disturbances and unruly guests
  • Complete incident reports within 24 hours and make court appearances if necessary
  • Serve as a liaison between local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies
  • Document shift duties with night logs
  • Administer the resort motor pool program
  • Support emergency vehicle access (ambulance and helicopters)
  • Maintain crowd control for special events
  • Practice good housekeeping around the area (vehicles and within the security office)
  • Help with locksmith problems
  • Assist with management of wildland fire equipment
