About The Position

The Overnight Security Guard at Playa Largo Resort & Spa is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for guests and employees, especially during non-business hours. This role involves monitoring surveillance, patrolling the property, handling deliveries, responding to incidents, and ensuring compliance with hotel policies and state regulations. The guard must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills to handle various situations effectively.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent; college degree or vocational training a plus.
  • Minimum 1-year prior experience in a similar position of dealing with the general public.
  • Ability to satisfactorily communicate with guests, management, and co-workers to their understanding.
  • Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with a minimum of supervision.
  • Ability to endure abundant physical movements in carrying out job duties.
  • Ability to ensure security all persons and property.
  • Ability to remain calm and courteous with demanding/difficult employees and/or situations.
  • Ability to perform job functions to standards under pressure of tense/confrontational situations.
  • Ability to ensure security and confidentiality of guest and employee information.
  • Ability to enforce hotel's standards, policies and procedures with hotel staff.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors and patrols assigned areas to provide a safe environment for guests and employees and to minimize opportunities for loss or damage.
  • Acts to deter any agent or element from jeopardizing persons or property in or about the hotel's facilities.
  • Maintains complete awareness of hotel facilities and services.
  • Handles deliveries received during non-business hours, following hotel procedures.
  • Monitors surveillance cameras as assigned.
  • Investigates duress alarms and complies with respective procedures.
  • Patrols the property with specified equipment, checking all designated points and documenting all actions.
  • Ensures all guest room doors are secured; assists guests with room access according to privacy policies.
  • Responds to the scene of guest/employee accidents promptly; complies with departmental procedures.
  • Complies with state regulations and with Shaner and Franchise guidelines for handling intoxicated guests.
  • Reports to scenes of vehicles accidents/thefts and documents specified information.
  • Complies with guest requests for storing and safekeeping of their valuables and follows procedures.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all Security and hotel reports/documents.
  • Provides interdepartmental assistance upon request to ensure optimum service to guests.
  • Provides security service for banquet functions/meeting rooms as assigned.
