About The Position

The Teachers of Tomorrow Program within the College of Education and Human Development is a teacher pipeline initiative designed to support and inspire high school students interested in careers in education through academic enrichment, leadership development, and residential summer programming. The Teachers of Tomorrow Program is seeking a responsible, motivated undergraduate student to serve as an Overnight Residential Leader during the 2026 Summer Institute (June 14 – 26). This leadership opportunity supports a safe, respectful, and engaging residential environment for participating high school students while providing hands-on experience in leadership, communication, and student engagement.

Requirements

  • Strong communication, professionalism, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to remain calm and responsible in dynamic situations
  • Availability for all scheduled overnight dates required
  • Applicants must be undergraduate students at the University of Delaware.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience as a Resident Assistant, camp counselor, peer mentor, or youth leader preferred
  • Students living in or near the Newark area are strongly encouraged to apply (no housing provided).

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a visible and approachable presence within the residence hall overnight (June 14 – 19 & June 21 – 26 from 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM)
  • Support community accountability practices, including nightly room checks
  • Conduct routine walkthroughs of residence hall floors
  • Respond appropriately to student needs and communicate concerns to staff
  • Reinforce quiet hours and community expectations
  • Complete nightly reports and shift summaries
  • Participate in required training and staff meetings
