About The Position

Provide direct care, supervision, and therapeutic support to youth in a residential setting during overnight hours, demonstrating compassion, accountability, professionalism, youth dignity, trauma-informed, whole-person support, and in a safe work culture.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must pass criminal background checks
  • Must have a current and valid Driver's License
  • High School diploma required
  • CPR/First Aid, crisis intervention, and other mandated trainings as provided by VOA.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, Education, or related field preferred.
  • Experience with youth in residential, school, recreation, or behavioral health setting, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide continuous supervision, ensuring youth safety, dignity, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Support nighttime routines, sleep hygiene, and emotional needs.
  • Conduct regular safety checks following trauma-informed practices.
  • Engage youth using whole-person care approaches that honor identity, culture, and strengths.
  • Maintain consistent boundaries, expectations, and relationship-based support.
  • Contribute to a structured, trauma-informed, healing-centered milieu.
  • Model regulation, respectful communication, and healthy coping skills.
  • Support activities that build independence, resilience, and social functioning.
  • Promote stability, predictability, and fairness in the living environment.
  • Respond to crises using trauma-informed, safety-oriented strategies.
  • Utilize verbal and environmental de-escalation before physical intervention.
  • Implement safety holds per training and policy when absolutely necessary.
  • Support youth recovery through grounding and restorative conversations.
  • Document and communicate incidents clearly and promptly.
  • Support multidisciplinary team needs.
  • Assist with treatment planning and unit activities.
  • Complete administrative or operational tasks that enhance program functioning.
