About The Position

BJ's Wholesale Club is seeking an Overnight Produce Clerk to join their team. This role involves sorting, displaying, replenishing, and removing fresh fruits and vegetables in the produce department. The clerk will maintain the department's environment, provide product knowledge and customer service, and ensure all produce meets company quality standards. The position requires adherence to company policies, a commitment to member service excellence, and maintaining a safe and positive environment. Team members are expected to work with speed, agility, and a positive attitude, while also innovating and adapting to change. The role also involves understanding department performance reporting and the connection between consistent execution and business impact.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age.
• Work experience in a produce department preferred.
• Knowledge of fruit and vegetables preferred, including seasonal items.
• Familiarity with AI tools, including ChatGPT, is recognized and valued.

Responsibilities

• Provides assistance to Members in the produce department, answering questions, recommending products and safe handling tips, and assisting Members with finding products.
• Inspects, rotates, and stores produce upon delivery, ensuring received produce meets or exceeds company standards.
• Rotates produce on the sales floor for optimal freshness and variety, ensuring cases and display areas are fully stocked, and keeping displays neat and clean.
• Removes products that are no longer suitable for sale.
• Maintains the produce reserve stock area, dating and rotating back stock items, and ensuring the storage area is organized and condensed daily.
• Follows established guidelines for disposing of damaged, spoiled, and/or expired products.
• Assists Fresh Manager with inventory and order processing as needed.
• Cleans and sanitizes all produce equipment, display fixtures, and areas, including the produce cooler and refrigerated display cases.
• Generates signage for produce goods and performs price check functions when necessary, ensuring all items are accurately priced and signed.
• Maintains all club policies and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned, including working in other departments as needed.
• Ensures regular, predictable, full attendance, which is an essential function of this job.
