About The Position

This role involves providing direct patient care in one of our three inpatient hospice care centers, focusing on comfort and support for an average of 6-7 patients per shift. The CNA will work closely with an interdisciplinary team and assist families with patient care needs. Responsibilities include charting, patient hygiene, meal assistance, room turnover, post-mortem care, and supply management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of CNA course.
  • Must attend 12 hours of in-service training supervised by a Registered Nurse on a rolling 12-month basis.
  • Has not had a lapse of 24 consecutive months where the aide has not provided services for compensation.
  • Current certification with State Board of Nursing, or current registration with Department of Facilities Service in the State of North Carolina.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years experience with hospice, home health or oncology preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care such as bathing, peri-care, dressing, mouth care, assisting to toilet, incontinent care, turning in bed, preparing and assisting with meals.
  • Complete Point of Care charting on desktop in the nursing station.
  • Work closely with the RN and interdisciplinary team to communicate patient status changes and patient or family concerns.
  • Train family on how to provide personal care within your scope of practice.
  • Prepare and turn room over for new patients.
  • Provide post-mortem care for deceased patients (washing, grooming, dressing, etc.).
  • Restock supplies and rooms.
  • Provide comfort measures to ensure patient comfort.
