About The Position

Red Bank Veterinary Hospital (RBVH) is seeking Overnight Emergency/Critical Care Veterinary Technicians who are personable, self-motivated, and strong communicators with excellent organizational skills. In this role, you will assist with a variety of daily tasks while collaborating closely with all departments across the hospital. The Emergency & Critical Care Technician plays a vital role in the triage, stabilization, treatment, and ongoing management of emergency and critically ill patients. This position requires the ability to independently carry out treatment plans, anticipate patient needs, and respond effectively to rapidly changing clinical situations. Technicians collaborate closely with ER clinicians, ICU teams, specialty services, assistants, and rotating doctors to ensure timely, efficient, and compassionate care. The role also includes client communication during high-stress and sensitive situations, coaching and mentoring support staff, and coordinating patient flow between departments.

Requirements

  • Three years of experience working as a veterinary technician in a veterinary hospital.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computers, including data entry and electronic medical records
  • Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role

Nice To Haves

  • Credentialed as a Veterinary Technician (LVT/CVT/RVT)
  • Prior experience working in an Emergency Hospital
  • Fluency in multiple languages a plus!

Responsibilities

  • Triage and stabilize emergency patients, providing immediate lifesaving care under veterinary direction
  • Perform thorough physical assessments, recognize critical changes, and communicate findings promptly
  • Execute treatment plans using strong clinical judgment, adapting quickly to evolving patient conditions
  • Perform CPR per RECOVER guidelines and support post-resuscitation care
  • Place and manage a wide range of catheters, tubes, and lines (IV, central, IO, arterial, urinary, chest, etc.)
  • Support ventilation (manual/mechanical), oxygen therapy, and advanced monitoring
  • Administer anesthesia, sedation, CRIs, blood products, and medications via multiple routes
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care, including nutrition, pain management, and recumbent patient support
  • Perform phlebotomy (including difficult and exotic cases) and collect/process diagnostic samples
  • Assist with radiography and operate in-house lab equipment
  • Follow strict isolation, PPE, and sterilization protocols
  • Support aftercare services, maintain accurate medical records, and assist with hospital upkeep
