We are looking for an Emergency Veterinary Technician to join our team! Our Outpatient Technicians plays a vital role in the hospital, providing critical care, assisting with diagnostics and treatments, and communicating medical updates and treatment plans to pet owners. WE ARE OFFERING A SIGNING BONUS OF $1500 FOR THESE ROLES! $1,500 RELOCATION BONUS MAY APPLY FOR HIGHLY QUALIFIED REGISTERED TECHNICIANS RELOCATING WITHIN THE PARKER COLORADO AREA! Compensation: $25 - $35 depending on experience +$3.50/ per hour shift differential for hours worked between 6pm-6am + SIGN ON BONUS Anticipated Schedule: Full Time Tuesday - Saturday 8:30pm - 7am About the Role: The Emergency Veterinary Technician’s primary responsibility is to triage patients as they present to the Emergency Room according to triage levels. Assess pets and provide immediate lifesaving care under the direction of the ER doctor as required for critical patients. Provides history, vitals, and concerns to doctors to assist in the timely and appropriate management of emergency patients. Works with float technicians and assistants to perform diagnostics, execute a treatment plan and/or hospitalize the patient. Communicate medical updates, financial, and treatment plans to owners.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of Veterinary Technician experience required
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Colorado Registered Veterinary Technician or the ability to become registered upon hire
  • Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus!

Responsibilities

  • Provides excellent patient care to every patient
  • Triage patients as they come into the ER with appropriate medical decision making and escalation to ER doctor as appropriate.
  • Obtaining history and vital signs of the pet
  • Assist DVM’s with exams, treatments and procedures
  • Immediately respond to STAT calls and follow the appropriate patient care protocols
  • Perform standard technician duties including patient restraint, venipuncture, SQ Fluids, radiographs, medication administration as ordered by a veterinarian, obtain and process laboratory samples, handle and dispense medications by veterinarian orders
  • Perform sedation and anesthesia according to established hospital protocols (induction, maintenance, monitoring and recovery).
  • Maintain accurate paperless medical records utilizing EzyVet and Smartflow
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of financial and charging practices including creating estimates and discussing with the owners, collecting payment and discharging patients.
  • Collaborate with all departments across the hospital to ensure that all patients are receiving the best possible patient care
  • Demonstrate compassion and care in all interactions
  • Attend department and staff meetings
  • Contribute to the overall needs, cleanliness and organization of the hospital.
  • Other duties as needed.
