About The Position

The Casey’s Place Direct Support Professional have the primary responsibility of providing a safe and secure environment for each individual. Each DSP must work closely with other staff including Program Manager, Team Leader, Nursing Staff and other administrators in order to meet the needs of the individuals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds without assistance.
  • Ability to sit, squat, crouch and stand for elongated periods of time
  • Ability to lift arms over head in upward reaching motion.
  • Ability to walk up and downstairs up to several times per day.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills to work with children and young adults with developmental disabilities.
  • Possess strong listening skills.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Effective time management.
  • Must interact and work well with others in a various fast-changing environments and situations.
  • Must be able to use technology to support service documentation.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with developmental disabilities, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide constant supervision and safety of the youth
  • Complete youth nightly bed checks
  • Complete adequate and necessary documentation during the shift, including reading and signing all necessary documentation, thoroughly and on time.
  • Complete cleaning duties assigned from check list
  • Promote independent living skills, meal prep and restocking of supplies (if necessary).
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Adhere to all rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Personal values consistent with Elmcrest mission and values.
  • Remain in compliance with all Elmcrest and oversight agency trainings as these are on-going.
  • Assist with individual’s personal care (when necessary).
  • Passing of meds (when applicable).
  • May need to transport youth in agency vehicles.
  • Bed checks at time specified on IPOP. (if necessary)
  • Manage children’s behaviors according to approved and appropriate techniques including physical intervention when necessary (TCI).
  • Assist youth with morning, afternoon, and evening routine.
  • Consistently follow Behavior Guidelines and Individual Protective Oversight Plan (IPOP).
