About The Position

The Overnight Canine Care & Facilities Specialist provides overnight care and safety for boarding dogs, manages late-night and early-morning check-ins and check-outs, and cleans and prepares the facility for the next day's opening. The role is planned to join the team in a few months in line with Zoomies Chicago's 2026 launch milestones. Hours are 10:00 PM–6:00 AM, with schedule options of five nights per week or two nights per week. Weekend and holiday availability is required. Zoomies Chicago describes itself as an equal opportunity employer and states that employment is at-will.

  • Self-motivated and highly reliable, with the ability to work independently without direct supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining a very clean facility.
  • Physical ability to clean large spaces, lift dogs weighing up to 60 pounds, and remain alert throughout a full overnight shift.
  • Professional, warm communication skills for interactions with pet parents during late-night and early-morning check-ins and check-outs.
  • Organization and attention to detail sufficient to follow care instructions accurately and document overnight notes clearly.
  • Weekend and holiday availability.
  • Willingness to perform basic dog hygiene tasks, including nail trims as needed.
  • Dog-friendly personality.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience cleaning or maintaining a commercial facility, restaurant, kennel, or similar environment; familiarity with large-scale sanitation routines is preferred.
  • CPR and Pet First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain it.

Responsibilities

  • Administer scheduled feedings, medications, and special care according to individual dog records.
  • Identify health concerns, behavioral changes, or emergencies and contact on-call management when needed.
  • Provide calm, reassuring interaction for dogs that are anxious or unsettled overnight.

  • Communicate overnight observations to pet parents at pick-up and pass notes to the incoming dayshift team.
  • Coordinate shift handoffs with Canine Care Specialists and Customer Success Associates.
  • When care and facility duties allow, assist with member record updates, reservation entry, and other light CRM tasks.
  • Clean and sanitize unoccupied kennel suites, runs, and boarding areas while minimizing disruption to resting dogs.
  • Clean and sanitize dog park floors, turf areas, and indoor play spaces before opening.
  • Clean restrooms and guest-facing common areas.
  • Restock supplies, paper products, and cleaning materials, and flag low inventory for the opening team.
