About The Position

Seeking a compassionate, dependable, and attentive Overnight Caregiver to support a 21-year-old young man with autism and other disabilities in his family's home. This is an awake overnight position, meaning you must remain alert, attentive, and available throughout the entire shift. Most nights are quiet, but the right candidate will be prepared to provide support as needed to ensure comfort, safety, and a peaceful nighttime routine. You may need to change diapers and comfort him in the middle of the night. The young man you will support is kind, engaging, and benefits from caregivers who are patient, reassuring, and consistent. You will be joining a supportive team and working with a family who values and appreciates the people who help care for their son. This is a welcoming, respectful home environment where caregivers are treated as important members of the team.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Ability to pass required background checks
  • Reliable transportation
  • Calm, patient, and compassionate
  • Dependable with excellent attendance
  • Comfortable working independently
  • Attentive to details and safety
  • Able to stay awake, alert, and engaged throughout the shift
  • Respectful, professional, and trustworthy
  • Interested in building a meaningful connection while providing quality support

Nice To Haves

  • 1–3 years of caregiving, nanny, direct support, healthcare, or related experience
  • Experience supporting individuals with autism or developmental disabilities
  • Personal care experience
  • Experience managing challenging behaviors is a plus
  • Additional shifts are possible if there is an interest and experience but not required with this position.

Responsibilities

  • Remain awake and attentive for the entire shift
  • Provide personal care, including diaper changes and hygiene support
  • Assist with repositioning and comfort needs as required
  • Offer reassurance and support if he wakes during the night
  • Help him return to sleep using established routines and supports
  • Maintain a calm, safe, and positive environment
  • Monitor for health and safety concerns
  • Follow support plans and nighttime routines
  • Support safety during occasional challenging behaviors
  • Communicate important information to family members and daytime staff
