About The Position

This position serves as a companion and advocate to all residents, understanding and practicing Academy Boulder’s procedures for Assisted Living resident support. The caregiver will review and understand each resident's care plan and assist with activities of daily living, including dressing, bathing, oral hygiene, ambulation, transferring, grooming, eating, and toileting. Responsibilities also include assisting with meal preparation, serving, and cleanup, documenting resident care in an electronic health record (EHR) system, and informing supervisors of resident changes in condition or concerns. The role involves preparing and administering medications and treatments, responding to emergencies, performing first aid, and monitoring vital signs. Additionally, the caregiver will maintain resident rooms and common areas, encourage resident participation in activities, ensure a safe workplace, and protect resident rights and privacy according to regulations.

Requirements

Fluency in English; effective verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team member
Ability to think, act and intervene independently and appropriately in both routine and emergency situations
Willingness to work flexible hours, weekends and occasional holidays, as required
High school diploma or equivalent

Responsibilities

Reviews and understands each Assisted Living resident's care plan
Participates/leads and assists residents with activities of daily living, including but not limited to, dressing, bathing, oral hygiene, ambulation, transferring, grooming, eating, and toileting
Assists with preparation, serving, and cleanup of meals, including the escorting of residents to the dining room
Documents resident care and observations in electronic health record (EHR) system
Informs supervisor of resident changes of condition, increased care needs, and/or resident family concerns
Prepares and administers medications and treatments
Responds to emergencies and performs first aid as needed
Takes and records temperature, blood pressure, weight, pulse and respiration rates
Keeps residents’ rooms and common areas neat and clean, notifies housekeeping/maintenance of special needs
Encourages and supports the residents’ participation in meaningful activities and social engagement
Creates and maintains a safe workplace; reports unsafe areas or situations to the appropriate department head
Protects residents’ rights, records, and privacy as required by federal, state, and local regulations
Adheres to all state regulations governing assisted living and medication administration
